School of Tourism

Shandong Women’s University started offering courses for junior college students majoring in Tourism Management in 1999 and established the School of Tourism during the reorganization of the university at the end of 2008. In 2010, the major of Tourism Management became one of the first upgraded majors offered to undergraduate students and later in 2013, the major of Exhibition Economy and Management started offering courses for students. The school now offers courses for undergraduate students of 2 majors, including Tourism Management and Exhibition Economy and Management and for students of undergraduate university upgraded from junior colleg and junior college students majoring in Tourism Management, of which the major of Tourism Management is the Provincial Characteristic Major.

For many years, the School of Tourism has been devoted to the exploration of cultivating applied talents in tourism and has increasingly deepened the cooperation relationship with the government and tourism enterprises relying on the well-equipped advanced experimental teaching center for tourism, establishing a training model of applied talents based on the cooperation between the school and the enterprises. According to the characteristics of tourism and exhibition, which both belong to “window industry”, relying on provincial excellent courses groups for hotels management practice and other related characteristic courses, the school highlights cultivating students in “civilized guiding with graceful characteristics” and forms the characteristic talents training model of training “civilized, graceful, practical and innovative” talents. The school emphasizes enhancing teachers’ abilities to transform academic results to industrial products and serve the society and has made remarkable achievements.
